Discipleship Building for Pre-Teens and Teens

Discipleship!

We still call it “Confirmation,” but it’s really “discipleship building” for pre-teens and teens!  Our Savior’s Confirmation program focuses on creating disciples out of our participants as we nurture faith and teach “servant leadership.”  God already promised his love and commitment to us in our baptism. Confirmation is our opportunity to learn what it means to affirm that love and commitment with our actions as disciples!

6th Grade Class

Corey Sjoquist spends each Wednesday covering stories of the Bible, from Genesis in the Old Testament through Acts in the New Testament, helping students begin to put together the narrative of God’s work in the world through Jesus Christ.  We are always eager to welcome new students!  For more information, contact the church office.

7th Grade Class

This year begins a study of our faith through catechetical instruction.  Using Martin Luther’s insights and teachings, we ponder the Sacraments, the Apostle’s Creed, and the Ten Commandments.  We also begin to explore what it means to be a Servant Leader.  Included are a series of elective courses on creation, care of self, outreach, articulating our faith, and worship.  And…we always have room for more!

8th and 9th Grade Class

This year 8th and 9th graders work together as we transition to a three year program.  8th graders continue in catechetical instruction as they not only learn about the Lord’s Prayer, but also learn to pray.

8th and 9th graders will explore specific areas of discipleship including discovering their own spiritual gifts, how we live with monsters in our world, valuing generations, and treasuring the gift of family.  Finally, they will also spend some time considering good stewardship of money and how our resources are a part of our faithful discipleship.

8th graders will affirm their baptism on April 28, 2024…and the 9th graders on April 14, 2024.
